PARTS OF THE EYE
Lid
• From the lash line to the crease
Crease:
• Look into the mirror and tip your chin up and close your eyes about ¾’s and you will see a natural shadow appear that is about 1/8th of an inch wide between the lid and under the brow,
• this is where any darker crease color should go – always remembering to blend well
• the easiest way is to blend up and outward with a soft brush or Qtip until the color fades away
Under brow
• Small area just inside the highest part of skin under the brow
Inner corner
• Closest to the nose
Outer corner
• Farthest from the nose
Inside lid top
• Can use white/light blue on inside to make the white of the eyes appear whiter and eyes bigger
• Use dark color for smokey look, which closes the eye
Inside lid bottom
• Can use white/or light blue on inside to make eyes whiter/ bigger
• use dark color for eyes to appear smaller /smokey eyes
Make up tip
The best blender for eyeshadow after you’ve placed it on with a brush is….pointed q tips!
MINERAL EYESHADOW
Daytime makeup
• With a brush place neutral to light color just on lid area
• with a light brown extenuate your crease making sure to blend upward and outward
• Add a little accent color at the outer corner of the eye, just softly for daytime use
• Apply eyeliner to the top of the eye, blending it well with a Qtip for a soft day look
• You can use eyeliner for the bottom but for a day look i would just use it on the outer 1/3rd of the bottom and blend well, this will bring out the eye but will not be too dramatic
• Again a soft neutral but light color place on the brow bone is nice and finishes off the look
• Curl lashes and finish off with mascara
THE SMOKEY EYE
• With a brush place black powder eye shadow across the entire eyelid a bit into the crease line (use your Qtips to blend upward at the crease line so the black fades away upward
• Use a neutral color just under the arch of the brow to extenuate the brow bone (for night you can use a shimmery color but go easy as too much can overtake the whole look
• Line the eyes with wet liner around the whole eye and then take a very small brush and go over the area with powdered shadow blending it in carefully
• Use a black or brown pencil eyeliner on the inside of the lid – making sure you use a sharpener on your pencil first just to rid it of bacteria but blunting it a bit before you actually use it.
• If you want even more of a dramatic look you can add a neutral brown eye shadow encircling the entire eye area being careful to soften and blend outward
• Curl you lashes if long enough and use black mascara
MINERAL EYELINER
Cake
• Dry cake applied with a wet thin liner brush
Cream
• Has dryish cream quality, apply with a thin liner brush
Gel
• Creamy quality, apply with thin liner brush
Pencil
• Easy to apply, best blended with a thin brush
• Keep pencils sharp but before use dull tip slightly
Liquid
• Hardest to apply
• Can have very precise line
• Usually for top lid only
• Great staying power
• Good for period looks
Mineral powder liner
• long lasting , easy to apply
• Mix any sappho mineral eye shadow with bit of water and voila – a myriad of very cool eyeliners
• Not for use on inside rims
MINERAL MASCARA
• Almost all mascaras in tubes contain Parabens – those nasty chemical that is linked to cancer and can mimic oestrogen and penetrate the skin.
• It appears that some cake mascara does not have Parabens as well however it is not as effective a product as tube mascara.
•
Sappho Cosmetics is diligently working on formulating a mascara with no Parabens that does not dry out the lashes. We will let you know the minute we have been successful!
